All learners have been issued a supply of lateral flow testing kits to last them until after the Easter break, for the purposes of home testing. The suggested schedule for twice-weekly testing is shown below.
Test 1 – Wednesday 31st March
Test 2 – Sunday 4th April
Test 3 – Wednesday 7th April
Test 4 – Sunday 11th April
Test 5 -Wednesday 14th April
Test 6 – Sunday 18th April
It is important that learners continue to test twice weekly throughout the Easter period, and complete a test on Sunday 18 April, prior to returning to college during w/c 19 April.
The vast majority of learners will have completed self-testing in college and will be familiar with the process, however step-by-step instruction booklets are included with the test kits. It is important that all results are reported via the Test and Trace service, details of which can be found here. Any learner who receives a positive test result should self isolate immediately and make arrangements for a PCR test, bookable here. Any absence should be reported in the usual way to the College student absence line: 01782 254333 (Newcastle) / 01785 223800 (Stafford).
A negative result does not guarantee that you are not carrying the virus, so learners are encouraged to continue following current guidelines on social distancing, wearing a mask/facecovering and regularly washing hands.
Please remember that the lateral flow testing kit is to be used if you are asymptomatic only (i.e. not showing any COVID-19 symptoms). If you have COVID-19 symptoms, you should self-isolate immediately, and book a PCR test here.
Any learners who have not yet received a test kit should contact their Personal Tutor or department administrator in the first instance. Whilst home testing is not mandatory, it is strongly recommended to help us keep our college community as safe as possible. Please note, testing kits issued by the College are to be used by learners only and should not be used by other family members. Household members can obtain their own lateral flow tests here.
There will be a limited on-campus testing facilities during w/c 29 March, any learners who need to access this, should speak to their Personal Tutor in the first instance.
Further communication will follow in relation to testing arrangements from w/c 19 April onwards.
