Level 3 Results Day Q&A

We’ve pulled together some useful Q&As to hopefully answer any queries you may have about the day…

Will there be any restrictions due to COVID-19?

In line with government guidance, national restrictions will lift from 19th July. However, we do recommend that you take a lateral flow test before attending on the day, and you should not attend college if the test is positive, or if you are feeling unwell.

We will continue to monitor national guidance in the run up to results day, and if there are any changes to restrictions, we will update our website and social media accordingly.

Hand sanitiser will continue to be available in Reception and at key points throughout the building, we would encourage all visitors to use this on arrival.

Mask wearing is optional in communal areas.

Do I need to bring anything with me?

Please bring a fully charged mobile phone in case you need to telephone a university or speak to a media representative, and a pen.

Also remember to bring your UCAS ID number and password. If you’ve forgotten any of your login details, remember to change/reset them on the UCAS website before results day, to ensure quick access.

What will be happening on the day?

Once you’ve collected your results you are welcome to stay for as little or long as you like.

Our marketing team will be capturing photographs and interviews throughout the day to allow us to commemorate 'The Class of 2021' and you’ll have the opportunity to leave an entry in our Yearbook and/or join our alumni network.

If you are unable to join us on the day, please remember to tag us in your celebration selfies, videos, messages or memories using the hashtag #NSCGResults #NSCGClassOf2021.

Have you applied to university?

Always check UCAS Track for the most up to date information about your course offers. Do not withdraw or accept any offers if you are unsure and make panicked or rushed decisions. Going to university is a huge step and although you don’t want any unnecessary delays, you do have time to think, reflect and visit institutions to make sure they are right for you. If in doubt on the day, speak to a member of staff.

Finally, remember no matter what your results, we’ll be here to support you on your next steps.

How were my grades calculated?

The Ofqual student guide to awarding has all the information you may need regarding the changes to how your grades were assessed this year, but in summary:

  • NSCG was able to assess grades with a high degree of accuracy, the tutors who contributed to the process know their students well.
  • The grades NSCG submitted to the exam boards were based on objective evidence and agreed by the College following a rigorous internal quality assurance process and are not the sole responsibility of any individual teacher.
  • Following the College submission of the Teacher Assessed Grades (TAGs), the various Awarding Bodies that we work with have applied their own Quality Assurance process to the TAGs to ensure that the grades awarded are a fair reflection of student attainment based on assessment evidence on content that has been taught.

What should I do if I am unhappy with my grades?

We will do everything we can to support students to make decisions about their progression. As is the case every year, there will be students whose final grades might require a change of plan. If your results aren't what you are expecting, don't worry! In the first instance, you should speak to your personal tutor who will be on hand to support you and provide you with further information on the options available.

What careers support will be available?

At both campuses, staff will be available for advice on careers and for those applying to university who wish to join the Clearing scheme. They will help you consider your options, make choices and any late applications.

There will be internet access to UCAS throughout – so you can check your application. Remember: don't forget to bring your UCAS ID number and password with you – on your first letter from them!

Don’t forget we also offer a range of Higher Education and Apprenticeship courses at NSCG and staff from these areas will be available at both campuses.

In addition, staff from local universities, including Keele University and Staffordshire University will also be on site on Results Day.
