At present the UK Government has stated that colleges will be closed until at least after February half-term – that’s 42 days from now. In those 42 days we want to encourage the NSCG community to get up and get active, whether that be for 15 minutes, 50 minutes or even more and in the process collectively help us reach our goal of walking/running around the UK – the equivalent of 5000 miles and raising money for the University Hospitals of North Midlands Charity.
Why take part? All distances matter, whether it’s a quick walk around your neighbourhood with the dog or a 10K run, it all counts! Our aim is to promote the importance of physical and mental health during lockdown, whilst having fun, raising some money for charity and keeping fit and healthy.
Those taking part in the challenge can download Strava via:
The App Store: apple.co/3oyP24x
Google Play Store: bit.ly/39iS2Md
And join our Strava group to share progress: strava.com/clubs/nscglockdownlegends
*IMPORTANT, YOU MUST SET ALL WALKS AS A RUN WHEN USING THE APP FOR THEM TO REGISTER ON OUR LEADERBOARD AND COUNT TOWARDS THE TOTAL DISTANCE – YOU CAN CHANGE ALREADY COMPLETED WALKS TO A RUN USING THE APP.*
Each week we’ll offer a £10 Amazon voucher to the student or staff member who submits the best selfie of themselves taking part in the challenge.
And an overall prize, the student and the staff member who clocks up the most miles in the next 42 days, will now not only be now incredibly fit, they’ll also be the owners of brand new Apple AirPods, so for future walks/runs they can listen to their favourite music or podcasts.
