Course overview

This course will introduce you to further accounting and financial skills. Youll learn about financial administration and have the opportunity to gain a qualification which will allow you to move into a career in accountancy and finance.

The AAT qualification will help you develop the accounting skills needed in the workplace, as well as IT skills and an understanding of professional ethics.

AAT is the UKs leading qualification and membership body for accounting staff. As a professional body, AAT offers membership to both student and qualified Accounting Technician members.

AAT qualifications are widely recognised by employers in the accounting sector. What are the entry requirements?

You will need to have completed the AAT Certificate in Accountancy Level 2 to sign up to this course. Any applicants considering starting at level 3 without the AAT level 2 qualification must discuss this with the course manager before enrolling.

How is it assessed?

End of module online exams as set by AAT

What financial support is on offer?

Advanced Learning Loans are available to pay course fees for people aged 19+, studying at Level 3 or above.
- No credit checks take place
- It isn't a bank loan
- Your household income is not taken into account
- You pay nothing back until you are earning over £21,000 per year

What can I do next?

You can progress on to the AAT Diploma in Accounting Level 4 course at the college. Once all three levels of the AAT qualification have been achieved you will be a qualified accounting technician and can apply for full professional membership of AAT as long as you can satisfy their work experience requirements. You may then consider continuing your studies to become a qualified accountant. Each of the professional institutes (ACCA, CIMA, ICAEW and CIPFA) accepts AAT qualified accounting technicians onto their programmes of study, and all offer exemptions.
