Course overview

This full time accelerated learning course is one year in duration and is geared towards students who have already completed either one year of a Level 3 course or of A Level study. Perhaps you feel you have chosen the wrong subject area, or are simply not enjoying your current mode of study? This course gives you the opportunity to achieve a 2 A Level equivalent Diploma qualification in just one year, opening up a range of opportunities in Higher Education sooner than you might think.
Business is a good, general subject that gives you the freedom to progress onto a more specific area of work or higher level study in the future from marketing and sale to accountancy. Maybe you have your own ideas or solutions and want to start your own business? Maybe you would like the skills and knowledge that would see you progress into a management position in a large corporation? Whatever your career ambitions, the BTEC Diploma in Business (Level 3) course provides a solid stepping stone.
The course has been designed to be varied, and give students a grounding in key business areas such as:
Marketing
Finance
Contract law
Human resource management
Economics and international business
You will attend college for 3 full days a week, and complete 12 units of study in this one year, so you should be prepared to work quite intensively at times.
The course is supported by a range of local businesses and we have developed close links with Stafford Enterprise and the Chamber of Commerce to ensure that the work you complete will develop the kind of skills that businesses really want, and that will set you apart from your competition. There are also a number of field trips planned that not only link directly with your coursework assignments, but will also help you develop a broad understanding of different industries and business environments. You will even get the opportunity to work on €˜live assignment briefs, solving real business problems for real, local businesses.
As well as this vocational element of the course, your programme of study will include career planning for business, compulsory work experience, and skills development including English and maths. You will also have at least one day per week where you will not be required in college, so you can get experience of working part-time, setting up your own business or undertaking voluntary work placements and internships.
Complete a recognised Level 3 qualification in just one year Develop a range of vocationally relevant skills Get access to work placements and internships with local businesses and employers Get an automatic place on our HND Business course if you achieve a Merit/Pass grade overall Get help and support with your UCAS choices and application
