Course overview

This course will allow you to further develop your accounting and financial skills. You'll learn about financial administration and have the opportunity to gain a qualification which will allow you to move into a career in accountancy and finance.

The AAT qualification will help you develop the accounting skills needed in the workplace, as well as IT skills and an understanding of professional ethics.

AAT is the UKs leading qualification and membership body for accounting staff. As a professional body, AAT offers membership to both student and qualified Accounting Technician members.

AAT qualifications are widely recognised by employers in the accounting sector. Learn about financial statements, budgeting, financial performance, internal control and accounting systems. You will also select two additional units to support your learning.

What else do I need to know?

Level 4 courses start on a rolling basis, please contact Mark Radden for details of the available start dates: mark.radden@nscg.ac.uk

What are the entry requirements?

You will need to have completed the AAT Diploma in Accountancy Level 3 to sign up to this course. Any applicants considering starting at Level 3 without the AAT Level 2 qualification must discuss this with the course manager before enrolling.

What financial support is on offer?

You can apply for an Advanced Learning Loan or Higher Education Loan to help with the costs of your course if you are 19 or older and the course you are studying is an eligible Level 3, 4, 5 or 6 course.

What can I do next?

Having completed all three levels of the AAT qualification you will be a qualified accounting technician and can apply for full professional membership of AAT as long as you can satisfy their work experience requirements. You may then consider continuing your studies to become a qualified accountant. Each of the professional institutes (ACCA, CIMA, ICAEW and CIPFA) accepts AAT qualified accounting technicians onto their programmes of study, and all offer exemptions.
