Course overview

The BA (Hons) Football Coaching & Development (top-up) is taught by experienced industry professionals. This level 6 course will encompass modules to give you business enterprise acumen, enhanced coaching ability, and far-reaching research skills to complete a dissertation, all of which can be taken into the world of work or into higher study at masters’ level.

You will analyse and evaluate your own football coaching practice to develop your ability to deliver to a
range of populations effectively. You will develop your knowledge and ability to work within the football coaching and development industry through a range of key partners. You will critically analyse the role of the FA
and academic research to support your own practice in a fast changing industry. You will gain valuable
employability skills and experience accessed through a range of key partners to support local delivery. You will become qualified by accessing a range of FA qualifications and continued professional development opportunities.

What else do I need to know?

There is an additional cost of £80 to cover the cost of a
training kit for practical sessions.

What are the entry requirements?

You must have a relevant level 5 qualification, such as a foundation degree or a HND.

How is it assessed?

The course curriculum is designed to assess you using varied strategies, which may be practical projects, written reports, case studies, presentations, match and tactical analysis and practical coaching sessions. The assessment will be continuous over the course and aims to develop your learning skills, practical abilities, personal qualities and subject knowledge. Assessments may be carried out individually or as part of a group; they will be presented either written or orally and may relate to hypothetical work situations.

What financial support is on offer?

The fee shown is the total fee per year of the course
There are two types of loans to help students cover the costs of their higher education course in college: tuition fee loans and living cost loans (also called maintenance loans). You pay these loans back when you finish your course and earn over £25,000. If you earn £27,000 a year you will repay £2,000 a year or £15 a month (nine per cent of the £2,000 earned above £25,000). Maintenance loans are only available to students studying on a full-time basis. They are not available for students studying on a part-time basis. For full details visit www.nscg.ac.uk/finance

What can I do next?

You can you can progress onto masters level degrees at Staffordshire University or other universities in relevant fields, or you can progress into employment in the football coaching and development sector where appropriate work-related experiences have been gained.
