University-level Courses

Foundation degrees, Higher National Certificates/Diplomas (HNC/Ds) and professional courses developed collaboratively between employers and universities provide you with the skills you really need – practical and academic – for the future success of your business.

University-level courses provide:

  • a practical alternative to more traditional academic programmes, combining work-based learning with academic study;
  • the opportunity to enhance staff training and development with minimal disruption to the business operation;
  • flexible teaching arrangements such as part-time, evening or block release attendance at college or university, distance learning or via the internet.
  • a skilled and motivated workforce

As an employer, you can even work with the College to develop Foundation degrees and work-based higher education, tailored specifically to your organisation and to the needs of your business and staff.

Professional Business Training

We offer hundreds of specialised programmes designed to provide industry accredited qualifications in professions such as: Accountancy (Sage, AAT, ACCA), Art, Design and Media (Photoshop, Illustrator, Quark Xpress) and Leadership and Management (CMI). Our courses are delivered using the latest technology to equip your staff with a range of skills which can be directly transferred to the workplace.

Short Courses

We have a wide range of short courses, covering areas such as:

  • Health and Safety
  • First Aid
  • Food Safety
  • Fire Awareness
  • Safer Manual Handling
  • Understanding Substance Misuse
  • Equality and Diversity

These training courses can often be delivered in the workplace to groups of 6-20 staff at a time. A college tutor will visit your premises to deliver the training at a time to suit you. Our staff will be pleased to tell you about them and help you choose those that meet your needs.

FREE Higher Technical Short courses (UK Shared Prosperity Fund)

Newcastle and Stafford Colleges Group (NSCG) has secured more than £150,000 of funding from the Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) as part of the government’s Levelling Up agenda to offer a number of free Level 4 Higher Technical Qualifications (HTQs).

The free courses, which will be available to study at Newcastle College and Stafford College have been developed taking into consideration the key priorities identified through analysis of the labour market, skills and sector-based trends and are aligned with the LSIP priority sectors to improve and develop skills across the region.

The Higher Technical courses available to study with NSCG include short courses from across a range of areas including Engineering and Advanced Manufacturing, Logistics and Distribution, Health Care and Digital Industries and will aim to develop skills across the region in order to support productivity, economic growth and innovation.

The UK Shared Prosperity Fund is a central pillar of the UK government’s Levelling Up agenda and provides £2.6 billion of funding for local investment by March 2025.

The Fund aims to improve pride in place and increase life chances across the UK investing in communities and place, supporting local business, and people and skills.

We have worked extremely closely with industry specialists to gain in depth knowledge of what skills employers are looking for now and to enable them to be sustainable to meet future needs. This has then informed the programmes that we have developed.

In the first year, we will be delivering over 16 courses and will soon be adding more to the list for you to access.
