Newcastle & Stafford Colleges Group extends huge congratulations to the 'Class of 2024', whose record-breaking results once again outperform national averages and position NSCG as 'Staffordshire's Leading College'.
At NSCG, we recognise that results matter to young people and their parents, and we are exceptionally proud of the students who've shown resilience, drive, determination and ambition to secure these outstanding results.
Achieving three or more substantial qualifications is key to unlocking progression on to university and into a good career. For several consecutive years NSCG has been the biggest provider of students to higher education in Staffordshire, with 1111 students progressing to 98 different universities last year.
This is just one of the many reasons why we’re Staffordshire's Leading College.
A Level Results 2024
In 2024, 1364 A Level entries were made with a pass rate of 99.3%.
- 85% of A Level entries achieved A* - C grades, compared to the national rate of 76%
- 61% of A Level entries achieved high grades A*-B
- A Level subjects reporting a 100% pass rate, include: Animation, Art & Design, Business Studies, Economics, English Language, English Literature, Film Studies, Graphic Design, Further Maths, Geography, History, Media Studies, Photography, Physics, Physical Education, Politics, Psychology and Sociology.
- 85.3% students A*-B on their Extended Project Qualification with 94% achieving A*-C
- 78.4% of A+ Programme entries achieved distinction star or distinction grades as part of their A Level Programme.
T Level & Vocational Results 2024
- 100% pass rate on our all T Level programmes. With 25.4% of T Level students achieving distinction grades or above.
- 88% of T Level learners achieved Merit grades or above (equivalent to B or above at A Level)
- 1117 BTEC Extended Diploma entries with 99% pass rate.
- 74% of Vocational (BTEC) entries achieved high grades DMM or above (equivalent to A* - B at A Level)
- 47.9% of Vocational (BTEC) entries achieved DDD grades or higher (equivalent to A or above at A Level)
BTEC Extended Diploma subjects with particularly strong grade profiles are as follows:
- Fashion – 93.8% of students achieved grade DDD or above
- Travel & Tourism – 78.6% of students achieved DDD or above
- Applied Science – 73.7% of students achieved grade DDD or above
- Photography – 70% of students achieved grade DDD or above
- Graphic Design – 61.1% of students achieved grade DDD or above
- Health & Social Care – 52.3% of students achieved grade DDD or above
Apprenticeship Results
NSCG’s overall achievement rate for apprenticeships during the last academic year was 68% against a national average of 54.3%, placing us at No.1 in the West Midlands and in the top 10% of Colleges nationally.
We currently work with more than 900 employers across Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, Shropshire and Cheshire, supporting more than 2300 apprentices in a wide range of industries to "earn whilst they learn".
