T Levels at NSCG

A new generation of workforce.

As our T Level provision continues to grow, we’re looking for employer partners to support in the delivery of these qualifications and further strengthen the links between education and industry.

T Levels are key to the Government’s ambitious programme to provide the technical expertise for the jobs of the future. They are exciting courses devised specifically with employers to ensure students learn relevant and up-to-date practices from the industry sector that interests them most.

Equivalent to three A Levels, they are technical based qualifications that prepare students for work or higher education. They include a substantial industry placement of 45 days over the two years, ensuring students benefit from a solid introduction to the workplace, develop real work skills and make a meaningful contribution to your organisation.

How do T Levels work?

T Level students will spend 45 days of their two year course working in your business carrying out on-the-job training. Similar to an apprentice, they will have a dedicated placement officer who will come   out to your business to meet with them. The placement officer will also work with you to ensure you’re getting the best out of the student.

Why partner with NSCG?

  • Together we can help shape and develop the next generation of  talent.
  • Gain early access to enthusiastic and capable students with sector specific knowledge.
  • No financial cost to your business – only a commitment to mentoring and providing a safe environment.

What do you need?

  • A completed Employer Liability Insurance Form (ELI).
  • A basic Health and Safety check.
  • Approximately one hour of mentoring or feedback over the full placement.
  • A named supervisor / contact within your organisation.

At the heart of T Levels is a strong partnership between education providers and employers. We are committed to ensuring your experience hosting a T Level student is smooth, supported and valuable.

You will be assigned a Placement Officer who will serve as your primary point of contact. They will support both you and the student throughout their industry placement. You can expect regular check-ins to monitor progress and address any questions or concerns. All necessary documentation will be prepared and shared with you well in advance.

We provide comprehensive guidance around safeguarding requirements, risk assessments and your responsibilities as a placement host. You’ll have the confidence and tools to provide a safe and positive environment for our students.

What to expect from our students

Students come equipped with up-to-date technical and theoretical knowledge relevant to your industry. Their learning is designed to align closely with real-world expectations, allowing them to apply their skills effectively.

They complete a 45 day (315 hours) industry placement over two years. This can be done through day release and / or block weeks. For students enrolled our Education and Early Years pathway, the industry placement requirement rises to 94 days (750 hours) over two years. Throughout their placement, students maintain a practical portfolio that reflects their learning journey and workplace achievements. They are encouraged to be reflective, receptive to feedback and to take initiative where appropriate.

We support our students to approach the workplace with professionalism, including punctuality, appropriate dress and respectful communication. They are encouraged to become valuable members of your team during their time with you.

What we expect from employers

Provide a safe, inclusive and engaging work environment: Ensure that students are welcomed into an inclusive, respectful, and secure workplace that fosters learning and engagement.

Offer feedback where possible to help the student grow: Where possible, provide feedback on the student’s performance. This helps them understand their strengths and areas for development, and contributes to their overall growth.

Raise concerns promptly: If any safeguarding, behaviour, or attendance concerns arise, notify the College as soon as possible so we can provide the appropriate support.
