Death of Queen Elizabeth II

We were deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, on Thursday 8 September 2022.

At the young age of 21, Queen Elizabeth announced that she would devote her life to serving our country, and she was true to her word to the very end. As Britain's longest serving Monarch, she dedicated 70 years of her adult life serving the country and Commonwealth. The length of her remarkable reign and the way in which she navigated the changes and challenges the UK and world underwent during her tenure, is nothing short of outstanding.

A beacon of calm and consistency, her dedication to duty, responsibility and integrity shone through to the end, when she appointed the 15th Prime Minister of her reign, Liz Truss on Tuesday 6 September.

We thank Her Majesty for her extraordinary service over the decades and send our thoughts and condolences to The Royal Family at this very sad time.

This is an emotional time for the entire nation and over the coming days we’ll be doing everything we can to support our students, and each other.

The death of a monarch is an unprecedented event, and as a college community we will come together during the period of National Mourning to reflect on The Queen's selfless service, show our thanks and pay our respects. In this regard, staff and students are encouraged to leave their own messages of condolences in the online book of condolences on the Royal website, which can be accessed here.
