Why did you run for the position?
Zach: As a member of the LGBTQ+ Community, I decided to run for the role so that I could make the College a safe place for the community.
Gabby: I want to help people who may be struggling and be a part of a team that wants to achieve the same thing. Being comfortable with who you are is something everyone should feel and so I want to be there to support those who need it.
What are your aims?
Zach: I would like to be able to start a LGBTQ+ club for people that are a part of the community to get together and spend time but to also offer support to people who may be questioning or are experiencing some unsavoury conditions in the College.
Gabby: I want to make the College a safe place for everyone, so they can express themselves as they wish and be comfortable in doing so.
What makes you passionate about the role?
Zach: I am passionate about having the opportunity to make a difference in the College for a group that is very dear to me.
Gabby: I am part of the LGBTQ+ community myself and I understand what people have been through. I like to research areas on this topic and I am passionate about understanding and learning new things which can help me become more knowledgeable on the area.
What are you looking forward to over the next 12 months?
Zach: Working in a team of new people and making the College evenbetter for everyone.
Gabby: Over the next 12 months, I am looking forward to be able to make a change in the College and try to make sure that in future the College is a safe place for the community and it is recognised more.
What’s your favourite thing about studying at NSCG?
Zach: The support from the teachers on my course making sure that I can complete my work
Gabby: Spending time with my friends and getting to know new people all the time. Also speaking to people from different areas of the College is something I enjoy.
Tell us a random fact about yourself
Zach: I had a seven hour long operation on my spine.
Gabby: I used to play football for Shrewsbury Town FC.
What 5 words would your friends use to describe you?
Zach: Friendly, kind, approachable, easy going, helpful and passionate.
Gabby: Determined, hilarious, compassionate, loyal and charismatic.
What are your hobbies / interests?
Zach: I am an active member in the scouting community, I like baking, reading and walking.
Gabby: Football, video games, cricket, sociology, history, reading, spending time with friends and Lady Gaga.
What’s your favourite NSCG hangout?
Zach: The Library.
Gabby: The Library.
What are you listening to at the moment?
Zach: Indie rock.
Gabby: The Hamilton soundtrack on repeat.
