#IWD2023: Staffordshire Police visit NSCG to raise awareness of violence against women
International Women’s Day falls in the middle of The UK SAYS NO MORE - a national initiative that runs from the 5 until 12 March which aims to highlight domestic abuse and sexual violence.
NSCG have recently joined the Violence Reduction Alliance which means our venues are now accredited to the Safer Places for Women and Girls Charter. To bring awareness and to take steps towards highlighting and combating violence against women, Staffordshire Police this week visited Newcastle and Stafford Colleges to engage with students on how they can keep themselves safe.
They gave out a variety of freebies including bottle toppers and glass covers to prevent spiking, personal alarms and had a range informative leaflets and resources to hand to help highlight this important issue.
They also gave out information on how to download Hollie Guard - a revolutionary new app to turn your smartphone into a personal safety device.
Launched in October 2015 and fully endorsed by many police forces across the country, the app provides an enhanced level of monitoring and additional peace of mind if you find yourself feeling unsafe.
Developed by the Hollie Gazzard Trust, the app has been downloaded more than 100,000 times and includes a range of safety features including a journey tracker, meeting alarm - which can be used when meeting new people and a check-in feature which sends an instant geo-stamped notification to your nominated emergency contacts.
The Hollie Guard app is available to download for free on the Apple App Store and Google Play. To find out more follow them on instagram @hollieguard or visit hollieguard.com.
