Newcastle College Celebrates Student Success with 'Student of the Month' Awards
Each month Newcastle and Stafford Colleges Group hold a ‘Student of the Month’ awards presentation at that highlights and recognises the individual effort, progress and dedication of students who go above and beyond throughout the year.
This month saw the first round of nominees of the academic year collect their awards. Highlighting and recognising the individual efforts, progress and dedication of students, the presentations included a number of inspirational stories from staff about their nominees, including; those showcasing skills at prestigious national competitions, overcoming adversity, competing for Team GB and going above and beyond on their chosen courses.
Lois Ciupek
Nominated for Student of the Month in the Faculty of Academic and Creative Studies, Lois has been a shining example of an A level student, with outstanding performance in both academic and practical studies in PE. Alongside her A Levels, Lois has competed as a gymnast and recently represented Great Britain in the 14th European Championships for Team Gym in Luxembourg. Despite the Championships involving significant training commitments, Lois continued to excel in her studies. Lois is known as an 'outstanding and conscientious student', always working hard to catch up on any missed work due to competing, and able to balance the demands of gymnastics and academic studies effectively.

Joshua has been selected to cycle for Team GB, an amazing achievement, and recently completed a charity cycle challenge where his team cycled a staggering 180km, raising approximately £400 for the Douglas MacMillan charity. He continually shows commitment to the course and has an incredible drive to succeed, with a clear career path in mind.
Vinny Lee Brennan
Vinny was nominated to receive the Apprentice of the Month Award. Vinny is an exceptional example of what can be achieved when you are willing to learn and determined to do well.
Supporting the presentations was Capula HR Director, Steve Tellwright who said:
"It was a real pleasure and very uplifting to present NSCG Students with their Student of the Month awards today. It is good to see both full-time and apprenticeship students benefit from the teaching, facilities and nurturing environment that NSCG provide, and clearly this is positively impacting the students as they are achieving exceptional results in and out of college."
Congratulations to all other students with their outstanding achievements and admirable commitment to their studies.
