Oliver was nominated to receive the Award for the Faculty of Vocational Studies as an outstanding student for his achievements and passion for music. In October, Oliver worked incredibly hard to gain an offer from Leeds Conservatoire to study the Bachelor of Music programme. Despite only playing piano for 4 years, Oliver was chosen for the extremely competitive course with only a select few places for both UK and international students. He is a role model for other students through his dedication, motivation and level of effort that he demonstrates in relation to music, always asking questions and showing a unique curiosity for the subject. Oliver has played the drums for some of his ensemble assessments and achieved the highest criteria, developing an appreciation for contemporary music alongside his classical soloist style. This year, as part of the course, Oliver has already created a podcast about pop music, played 2 gigs on site, volunteered to perform at the Tea Dance, created sound/effects/music for a moving image piece and created a development plan related to sight reading.
