Our advanced ESOL course is designed for confident ESOL students who have gained a level 2 ESOL qualification and want to develop their language skills even further, while exploring important topics about living and working in today’s society. It’s ideal if you want to advance your career prospects and continue to develop speaking, listening, reading and writing in English while discussing real-world issues that affect modern life in the UK and globally.
This course helps you explore what it means to live in a modern world, where language, technology, and society are constantly changing. Through real-life topics and everyday situations, you’ll improve your English skills while gaining confidence to express your opinions, share ideas, and understand the world around you more clearly.
You will explore a wide range of current and relevant themes such as:
- Health and wellbeing
- Technology and social media
- Work and employment
- Environment and climate change
- Community, law and government
- Education and lifelong learning
You’ll develop your English through:
- Group discussions, debates and presentations
- Reading news articles and factual texts
- Writing emails, reports, and opinion pieces
- Grammar, vocabulary and formal writing techniques
Through real-life topics and everyday life and work situations, you’ll improve your English skills while gaining confidence to express your opinions, share ideas, and understand the world around you more clearly.
Our advanced ESOL course is designed for confident ESOL students who have gained a level 2 ESOL qualification and are very confident with reading, writing and speaking and listening skills.
Before you start the course, we will invite to attend an welcome event to ensure your level of English is appropriate for the course.
There are no formal exams, but your tutor will provide ongoing feedback and help you track your progress with an individual learning plan.

Please note that courses run subject to minimum viable class sizes. You’ll use college laptops and tablets during class.
