Tailored for individuals eager to advance their skills, this program offers a stepping stone to further education or employment. Through a combination of classroom learning and practical application, you will develop a diverse skill set relevant to your chosen field. The Level 1 course caters for students interested in progressing onto a Level 2 subject specific qualification, where we offer project units in IT, Business, Sport, Public Services, Early Years, and Health and Social care.
We complete 3 main phases over a 4 day week, alongside Maths and English.
Phase 1 - Initial assessment: Organisation, Assignment writing, Citizenship, IT and Research skills, Enrichment and Team Building.
Phase 2- Assignment assessments in a number of formats; writing, presentations, observations etc. At least 2 of these will be in a Vocational subject you have chosen from the list above. If you're unsure of which subject you'd prefer, we can give you the option of changing in the first few weeks.
Phase 3- Progression pathways: where you will make an informed decision as to what you want to do the following year, and we support this with additional tasks, course tasters, work experience etc.

Our courses serve as a stepping-stone to course specific pathways at college in various vocational areas or even employment. On our courses, learners will develop Maths and English skills and will be required to complete these whilst gaining a qualification. Learners will also develop life skills in a supportive environment and improve their social skills and ability to work with others.
You will have two GCSEs at grade 2 or below. However, if you have a keen interest in the subject and commitment to succeed, your entry requirements will be discussed at interview.
If you have been homeschooled or missed your GCSE exams, we will initially assess you and place you onto either the level 1 or entry 3 (pre-level 1) course. Both of these are one year programmes.
The level 1 course is 100% coursework based, comprising a range of assessment methods: Written work, presentations, observations, posters, group work and recorded professional discussions.
The English Maths you study will include exams. Please let us know in advance of any exam considerations you had in place at school, providing evidence.
This course is free for anyone aged 16 – 18.
College Maintenance Allowance (CMA): Anyone with a gross household income under £30,000 can receive financial support to cover college related costs such as transport, meals, course equipment and uniform. Bursary support is based on individual circumstances and will be allocated to best suit your individual needs.
