Begin a career in beauty as an adult learner by studying this part-time course. Learn the essential skills and treatment practices required to work in this client focused industry. Based in our commercial salon, you will have an exciting opportunity to provide a range of treatments such as eyelash and brow treatments, facial skincare, waxing, manicures and pedicures to paying clients.

The course covers a variety of treatments carried out by a beauty therapist, including support the health, safety and security of the salon environment, enhance the appearance of the eyebrows and lashes, make up services, facial skin care treatments, manicure and pedicure services. First class client care and customer service plays a key role in ensuring a professional and enjoyable salon experience, and our experienced tutors will help you to develop your customer service skills for life in a busy salon or spa.

During this course, you could study the following units:

  • Health and safety practice in the salon
  • Client care and communication in beauty related industries
  • Manicure treatments
  • Pedicure treatments
  • Eyelash and brow treatments
  • Facial skincare
  • Waxing techniques

You need to possess a high level of interest in Beauty, and the ability to work with other people. Entry to the course is by interview, enabling us to discuss course content, career prospects and your individual needs.

You are continually assessed throughout the course by building your portfolio of work, which contains evidence of your competence in each of the practical and related skills. You will need to do plan for 1-2 hours a week of research & directed study in order to pass the exams for each unit.

Upon successful completion of this course you will be able to progress onto a Level 3 beauty course.

What else do I need to know?

This course is 30 weeks, 7 hours per week over a Tuesday afternoon and evening. You will need to purchase a uniform and beauty kit. 

Please note there may be additional costs for books, materials or other expenses. The course will run subject to minimum viable class sizes.
