Course overview

The course is ideal if you are already working in welding and fabrication industries and are looking to develop your skills further, to increase your responsibilities and knowledge. The course will give you the opportunity to learn, develop and practise the skills in welding, metal fabrication, thermal cutting or brazing and soldering. You will be able to learn about welding disciplines in MIG, ARC or TIG. Learn how to work safely within a welding environment Produce five welding assessments including three straight runs, lap joint, T fillet in flat position, T fillet in the horizontal/vertical positon and corner joint Undertake knowledge questions consisting of 15 set oral questions for each qualification based on scheme handbook knowledge requirements Undertake welding health and safety Learn about the welding process

What are the entry requirements?

To sign up to this course you will need a City & Guilds Introduction to Welding Skills Level 1 qualification.

Newcastle and Stafford Colleges Group is pleased to be able to offer financial support to help students meet the costs of attending College. If you are on state benefits or are on a low income you may be entitled to fee remission towards your course.

What can I do next?

After completing this course you can progress on to a level 3 welding course or seek employment or progression in the industry.
