This part-time course aimed at adult learners will provide you with a good introduction to Carpentry and Joinery. You will develop the skills, knowledge and confidence to prepare you for employment as a skilled crafts person in the near future. 

This part-time course aimed at adult learners will provide you with a good introduction to Carpentry and Joinery. The course will prepare you for employment as a skilled crafts person in the near future and give you the skills, knowledge and conference to fully qualify in this area.

You will develop practical skills in this trade and once you have completed the Level 1 Diploma you may then progress onto the Level 2 Diploma in Carpentry & Joinery. 

During your studies, our industry-trained tutors will teach you the basics relating to construction including working safely, handling & storing resources, your responsibilities at work, communication skills and your will develop your personal effectiveness skills to enable you to progress to further training or employment.

You will need a grade 2 in English and maths at GCSE level. However, if you have a keen interest in the subject and commitment to succeed, your entry requirements will be discussed at interview.

You will be assessed by the use of practical assessments and assignments that will form part of a portfolio of your work. You will also complete practical and theory tests at the end of your training course.

Having completed the course, you will be well prepared to progress to the Level 2 Diploma in Carpentry & Joinery.

What else do I need to know?

You will spend a large amount of your time developing your practical skills by completing a range of practical projects in our workshops. You will also have classroom-based and computer-based learning resources that you will use to develop your understanding of the tools, materials and technologies used in your trade. You will be expected to complete work outside of your main classes.
