The course is made up of the following units:Anatomy and Physiology for Exercise and Health
Applying the Principles of Nutrition to a Physical Activity Programme
Instructing Exercise with Referred Patients
Professional Practice for Exercise Referral Instructors
Understanding Medical Conditions for Exercise Referral
Planning Exercise Referral Programmes with Patients
What are the entry requirements?
Any of the following qualifiations are accepted as an entry requirement -
YMCA Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing or equivalent
YMCA Level 3 Certificate in Personal Training
VTCT Level 2 Certificate in Instructing Group Exercise to Music
YMCA Level 3 Diploma in Teaching Pilates
YMCA Level 3 Diploma in Teaching Yoga
Any other qualifications which give entry to the REPs Physical Activity Advisor
YMCA Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing or equivalent
YMCA Level 3 Certificate in Personal Training

How is it assessed?
The course is assessed through a variety of methods:

What financial support is on offer?
If you are 19-23, it is your first Level 3, and are studying an SFA approved Level 3 programme you may be eligible for full fee remission.
You can apply for an Advanced Learning Loan or Higher Education Loan to help with the costs of your course if you are 19 or older and the course you are studying is an eligible Level 3, 4, 5 or 6 course.

YMCA Level 4 Certificate in Weight Management for Individuals with Obesity, Diabetes Mellitus and/or Metabolic Syndrome
Any other Level 4 specialist qualifications
