This full time, one year course is perfect if you want to work in engineering operations.
Engineering is seen as one of the most important industries in the world as it helps create change in society through technological breakthroughs. The government are heavily investing in the sector to avoid any skill gaps in the future.
You can also prove your ability in areas of the industry such as fabrication, welding and materials processing.
Areas you will learn about include:
- Health and safety,
- Engineering operations,
- Business ideas and problem solving,
- Basic fitting, turning and/ or welding technique
- How to use measuring and inspection equipment
- How to recognise and use tools and equipment within an engineering environment
- Develop employability skills required for working within engineering
You will come to college three days a week and also take part in work experience to give you the best chance to get a job in the engineering operations industry after completing your course.
As part of your study programme here at the College, you will complete a maths and/or English qualification alongside your chosen course if you have not already achieved a grade 4 or above.
Alternatively, you may wish to seek full time employment or an intermediate level apprenticeship.

College Maintenance Allowance (CMA): Anyone with a household income under £26,000 can receive up to £20 per week financial support to help pay for travel and meals and meet the costs of essential trips, books, stationery and equipment.
