Course overview

This is a specialised program aimed at assisting parents in supporting their children's mathematics education at the GCSE level. This course equips parents with the necessary tools and strategies to aid their children's understanding and mastery of key mathematical concepts covered in the GCSE curriculum. Through practical guidance and resources, parents learn how to reinforce mathematical skills such as arithmetic, algebra, geometry and statistics.

This friendly and informal course explores strategies to help you support your child to overcome the challenges they face, when studying GCSE maths. It will include maths skills to managing anxiety and revision planning to exam techniques as well as topics delivered in the GCSE mathematics syllabus. You will learn up to date practice used by teachers from a subject expert, discover and try out methods that you can use at home to help your child consolidate their learning, complete homework and become more confident at school.

During the course you will explore:
• Fundamental Number skills
• Manipulatives
• Reasoning and problem solving skills

While studying on the course you will also develop your own numeracy skills to help you to become more confident with supporting your child with their learning journey up to KS4.

The course is delivered online and is a flexible course where you can study at a time to suit you, with the support of an online tutor.

There are no entry requirements, but you will need to be 19+ and reside in Staffordshire.

There are no formal assessments, but we will track your progress. To help us get a better understanding of your maths needs you will complete an initial assessment at the start of the course.

Once you have completed the course, you will have the option of progressing to a maths qualification or further learning to support you further.
