This course offers a Level 3 technical qualification that will provide learners with the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed to progress into skilled employment or higher-level technical training, or study in the legal sector. 

The programme offers the opportunity to specialise in legal services or alternatively crime, criminal justice and social welfare opportunities. 

As part of the programme of study the learner will complete a significant industrial placement.

This course is suitable for learners who are interested in a career within the legal sector. This is a two-year, full-time course that will give the learner the options of moving into a skilled occupation or further study including degree level apprenticeship or higher education.

Five GCSEs at grade 5 or above, including English, Maths and Science.

The core knowledge and understanding will be assessed through an examination and core skills through a practical employer-set project.

The occupational specialism in the second year will provide an opportunity to pursue either of the following routes

  • Legal Services Assistant - business, finance and employment
  • Legal Services Assistant - crime, criminal justice and social welfare

This could also include the Higher Technical Qualification in Leadership and Management or alternatively the HNC/D in Public Services.

College Maintenance Allowance (CMA): Anyone with a household income under £26,000 can receive up to £20 per week financial support to help pay for travel and meals and meet the costs of essential trips, books, stationery and equipment.
