Course overview

Discover the processes, knowledge and tools required to successfully work in a lean manufacturing role by studying this short 12-week introductory course. This course provides a compelling introduction to what Lean is all about and the benefits to businesses for long-term success.

During this 10-week course, you will be introduced to the principles and processes of lean manufacturing to gain the skills to become a committed practitioner of lean in the world of construction and engineering. Learners will explore the benefits and challenges of using lean manufacturing, and become sufficiently knowledgeable about the most important process tools and techniques to be able to operate and use them.

You will cover subjects including:

  • The principles of lean manufacturing
  • Creating a flexible production system
  • Applying the single minute exchange of die (SMED) method to a production system
  • Learn how to implement a total productive maintenance system

A Level 3 qualification in a mechanical or manufacturing engineering is required to apply for this course.
