Course overview

Become more confident with your number skills by studying our this short 10-hour Preparing to Learn maths course. An informal introduction to learning in a supportive environment, this course is designed to help you build confidence with like minded adults before joining a full maths course.

If it’s been a long time since you’ve done any maths, or if numbers make you feel unsure, this relaxed and friendly course funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund is the perfect place to start.

Over 10 supportive hours, you’ll:

• Build your confidence working with numbers

• Explore everyday maths, like using money, telling the time, and measuring

• Take part in simple, practical activities to help you understand how maths works in real life

There’s no test and no pressure—just encouragement and support to help you feel more comfortable with maths.

Your tutor will guide you at your own pace, helping you take small steps and believe in yourself. You’ll also get helpful tips for practising at home and using your new skills in everyday life, such as shopping, cooking, or budgeting.

There are no formal entry requirements, just a willingness to learn and get involved.

There are no formal assessments, just the joy to learn maths. Together we will record your progress on an individual learning plan and your teacher will provide you with regular feedback.

For further information, please contact our Adult Education Team on 01782 254211 or email adult.education@nscg.ac.uk.

Once you have successfully achieved the English course you will have the option to progress on to one of our maths courses to suit your individual level.

This course is funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and is FREE to adults aged 19+ who have been a UK/EU Resident for 3 years or more.
