Foundation Studies

Personal Progression.

If you want to gain skills for personal progression, whether it be achieving better qualifications, accessing mainstream education or developing your independent living skills, we have a foundation course for you.

At NSCG our focus is to prepare our students for adulthood and their chosen aspirations beyond our doors. We aim to provide a broad curriculum that will not only enhance their current skills but provide opportunities to develop new skills that they can apply into their everyday life.

We offer a range of tailored specialised foundation programmes for school leavers and young adults at all levels of ability, and those with SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disability) including Foundation Studies, Life Skills and Employment Training.

Life Skills and Employment Training

Our Life Skills and Employment Training curriculum provides opportunities for learners who are working at Entry Level 1 to Entry Level 3. Learners who access this provision have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and join the College to develop their life skills and employment prospects, with opportunities to progress academically.

Our goal is to prepare learners for adulthood. Although we cannot guarantee employment, we work extremely hard to ensure learners are in the best possible place to access opportunities for employment and increase independent living skills and community inclusion.

Vocational and Progression Studies

Our Entry Level and Level 1 vocational courses will help students develop the skills needed to progress further, gain better English and maths grades and learn about career pathways which best support their future aspirations. Our outstanding team of lecturers and specialist support staff will be there every step of the way to ensure learners who access this provision reach their full potential.

Supported Internships

NSCG offers supported internships to help students aged 16-25 take a step into employment. Supported internships are structured study programmes intended to enable young people with learning difficulties and/or disabilities to achieve sustainable, paid employment by equipping them with the skills they need for work through learning in the workplace.
