NSCG students make their mark at Cladding Signing Ceremony

Over the summer, students studying Level 3 Extended Diploma in Photography have been capturing the development of the brand new Stoke-on-Trent & Staffordshire Institute of Technology (SoTSIoT) and recently returned to take part in a ‘Cladding Signing Ceremony’.

The students had the chance to tour the site, based at Palmbourne Industrial Estate on Castle Street, Stafford and to view the incredible construction progress made.

The day was also a chance for the students to say their final goodbyes to their lecturers and peers as they leave NSCG to progress on to their higher education destinations. The class were each presented with a copy of the latest book dummy and had the opportunity to sign their name on the cladding of the building as a permanent momentum of their involvement in the project.

The class celebrated after with a picnic on site together to celebrate their hard work over the summer months.

Sue Bowdery, Work Experience Project Co-ordinator said: "We've just loved seeing these students grow in confidence and advance their professional practice skills during this unique work experience project with Stafford Borough Council. For this we want to say a big thank you to Speller Metcalfe and in particular Carl Bettam, for facilitating our weekly photoshoots."

The SoTSIoT will bring together key industry, education and research opportunities to the county and will see employers and academia working collaboratively to widen participation in targeted STEM areas. The consortium, led by NSCG, is supported by key education providers and employers including Keele University, Burton and South Derbyshire College, Axia Solutions, Siemens, Moog Aircraft Group, Dell, Hitachi Energy and St Modwen Logistics.
