Newcastle and Stafford Colleges Group’s (NSCG) Academy of Sport has once again secured the top spot in the Association of Colleges (AoC) Sport table for the West Midlands, reaffirming its reputation as the top college in the region for competitive sport participation.

The AoC Sport points table ranks colleges based on performance across league and cup competitions, regional tournaments and the National Championships, with points awarded for entries, final placements and achievements throughout the season.

In addition to topping the regional table, NSCG also placed an impressive 6th nationally, following a hugely successful year of competition across a wide range of sporting disciplines.

This year, 43 talented student-athletes represented NSCG at the AoC National Finals in April, competing in football, volleyball, badminton, cross country and rugby. The Men’s Volleyball team were crowned double champions, winning both the National Knockout Cup and the National Championships, while the Women’s Volleyball team also triumphed in the National Knockout Cup.

NSCG’s Academy of Sport is made up of eight Performance Academies, offering students coaching and competitive opportunities while supporting them to balance their sporting ambitions with academic achievement.

Academy of Sport Manager, Dave Sutton, said: "We’re incredibly proud to once again be recognised as the top college in the West Midlands for sport. This achievement is a testament to the dedication of our students and the hard work of our coaching staff, who go above and beyond to create an environment that supports both sporting and academic success. To place 6th nationally and take home two national titles is a fantastic result and we’re excited to keep building on this momentum in the year ahead."
