Grow in confidence and develop the essential literacy skills to help you in everyday life. Studying alongside like-minded adults, you will explore reading through simple sentences and identify everyday words and their uses in everyday life.

During the supportive English course, you will start to become confident with the essential literacy skills to help you within the modern world. You will explore reading through simple sentences and short pieces of text on a simple subject, identify everyday words and their uses in everyday life.

Your teacher will support you throughout your journey with English, ensuring you become confident and enjoy English through fun and interactive activities both in and outside the classroom.

Whilst studying with us you will need to practice at home on a regular basis, using the new skills with your family and friends.

Our Absolute Beginners English course is for people who struggle and lack confidence with their own reading and writing ability. You will be invited to attend college for one evening prior to the course start date to meet your teacher and learn more about the course.

There are no formal assessments, just the joy of maths. However, we will need to check you are making progress through a variety of practical, written and speaking activities. You will need to record your progress on an individual learning plan which will follow your journey with English and your teacher will provide you with regular feedback.

Once you have successfully achieved the English course you will have the option to progress on to a Functional Skills qualification.
