This course offers a solid foundation in essential beauty therapy skills and knowledge. Learn the basics of skincare, makeup application and nail care techniques. The aim of the course is to provide a programme of training, leading to a nationally recognised professional qualification, for individuals working within the beauty industry. This qualification would suit you if you are looking to begin your training in the beauty industry.

The programme involves a study of technical units and related units at a specialist level covering areas which include; professional image, manicure, pedicure, skin care, nail art, make up and face painting.
You learn by carrying out assignments designed to enable you to show competence. Some of these are practical, some written and some are spoken responses to your tutor’s questions.

As part of your study programme you will complete maths and/or English qualifications if you have not already achieved a grade 4 or above.

The study programme will also incorporate work experience and a range of work related activities to ensure that you have the breadth of skills required to progress to further training on Level 2 or an apprenticeship.

You will need 2 GCSEs at grade 2 . However, if you have a keen interest in the subject and commitment to succeed, your entry requirements will be discussed at interview.

You are continually assessed throughout the course by building a portfolio of work, assignments and practical assessments observed by your assessor on a selection of clients.
