Newcastle College welcomes local schools for Health and Care Careers Roadshow
Following its successful launch at Stafford College in October, the Health and Care Careers Roadshow-organised by the Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Integrated Care System- was recently hosted at Newcastle College.
Year 10 and 11 pupils from St John Fisher Catholic College, Clayton Hall Academy, Discovery Academy, Trentham Academy and Painsley Catholic College all attended the event, which aimed to inspire and inform the next generation of healthcare professionals.
Learners had the opportunity to take part in interactive and engaging workshops including CPR administration, abdominal thrusts, and the ‘ABC’s’ of emergency healthcare (airway, breathing and circulation), allowing students to gain hands-on experience in lifesaving techniques whilst exploring their future career paths.
The event also saw T Level students from Newcastle College provide support by giving demonstrations and discussing various course options available for those interested in pursuing a career in health and care.
NSCG Senior Schools Liaison Officer, Martyn Williams, said: "It’s been fantastic to bring the Health and Care Careers Roadshow to Newcastle College.
“We had such a successful launch at our Stafford campus, so we are really pleased to give even more students a unique insight into the healthcare sector and the exciting pathways available here at NSCG.
“We’re incredibly thankful to the team at Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Integrated Care System for their dedication and effort in bringing this event to life.”
Gemma Treanor, Head of the ICS Health and Care People Team said : “This exciting event is all about sparking curiosity, inspiring ambition and opening doors for students into the incredible world of health and social care in Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent. Designed as a dynamic showcase, we have teamed up with local employers and education providers to create an impactful experience.
“What’s special about this event is how employers have come together, showcasing why this region is among the best places to live, learn and work in health and social care. We believe that by highlighting these opportunities, we can guide students into exploring a future in this vital field.
“A special thank you goes to NSCG for hosting the event and welcoming health and social care organisations from across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent. We look forward to collaborating again next year!”
The Health & Care Careers Roadshow is part of Newcastle College's commitment to enhancing career pathways for local students and encouraging them to explore the vital roles available within the health and care sectors.
