ALICE CHARITY 3

Staff and students spread Christmas cheer with charity toy collection

This Christmas, staff and students have gone the extra mile in their charitable efforts to support the annual Alice Charity toy collection.

A classroom that would usually host lessons for students studying Early Years, now resembles Santa’s workshop with hundreds of gifts donated to ensure no local child goes without a present to open on Christmas Day.

For over 10 years, Early Years Tutor at Newcastle College, Jayne Dale, has been coordinating the campaign within the College. She said: “The annual toy collection has now become a Christmas tradition, and every year I’m overwhelmed by the efforts everyone goes to to support the campaign.”

The Alice Charity helps disadvantaged and vulnerable families within Stoke-on-Trent and Newcastle-under-Lyme, providing both emotional and practical support.

The support for Alice Charity runs all year long with Jayne encouraging the students to get involved with raising vital funds and donations throughout the year.

“We work alongside the charity throughout the year, running food collections and hygiene campaigns to help everyone have access to the essentials.”

Jayne expressed her gratitude, saying, “Every year I am blown away by the generosity that is shown. This time of year can put a financial strain on everyone so we really are grateful for every single donation, big or small, as I know it will make a huge difference to someone’s Christmas day.”
