Advance your career in construction with our Level 2 Diploma in Brickwork. Dive deeper into the art and science of bricklaying with advanced techniques and hands-on training. You will develop more advanced practical skills in bricklaying. You will learn about basic issues relating to construction including working safely, communication skills and building methods and construction technology to enable you to progress to further training or employment. You will spend a large amount of your time developing your practical skills by completing a range of practical projects in our workshops. You will also have classroom based sessions and computer-based learning resources that you will use to develop your understanding of the tools, materials and technologies used in your trade. You will be expected to complete work outside your main classes.

As part of your study programme here at the College alongside your chosen course you will complete a maths and/or English qualification if you have not already achieved a grade 4 or above. (This will be a GCSE for all students with a grade 3).

The study programme will also incorporate a range of work related experience activities to ensure that you have the breadth of skills required to progress to further/higher education, employment or an apprenticeship.

You will need 4 GCSEs at grade 3 or above and will need to have achieved the Level 1 Diploma in Construction - Brickwork.

You will be assessed by the use of practical assessments and assignments that will form produce a portfolio of your work. You will also complete practical and theory tests at the end of your training course.

Having completed the course you will be prepared to progress onto a Level 2 Apprenticeship where you would work on site for four days a week and spend one day a week in College to continue your learning.

This course is free for anyone aged 16 – 18.

College Maintenance Allowance (CMA): Anyone with a gross household income under £30,000 can receive financial support to cover college related costs such as transport, meals, course equipment and uniform. Bursary support is based on individual circumstances and will be allocated to best suit your individual needs.
