Advance your engineering skills with our Level 2 Diploma in Engineering Operations. Dive deeper into mechanical, electrical and structural engineering principles. You’ll be studying in our engineering workshops and classrooms, where you’ll have access to state-of-the-art equipment and taught the technical and practical aspects of engineering by our team of experienced and qualified tutors. You’ll learn how to use machine tools, measuring and inspection equipment and get to grips with techniques such as fabrication, welding and materials processing.

The programme of study includes:

  • Engineering operations,
  • Enterprise ideas and problem solving
  • Work to occupation standards of health and safety.
  • Learn how to use machine tools and hand tools to produce components to meet industry standards. 
  •  Use measuring and inspection equipment to check for accuracy of components.
  • Develop engineering communication skills.
  • Introduction to apprenticeships and routes to employment.

You will study three days a week including compulsory work experience to give you the employability to go and work in the engineering operations industry.

You will need four GCSEs at grade 4 or above (including maths and English). However, if you have a keen interest in the subject and commitment to succeed, your entry requirements will be discussed at interview.

You will complete a range of practical projects and will be assessed and monitored throughout the year on these. You will also compile a portfolio of all of this work to show what you have learned.

You can move up to our T-Level in Engineering course or a related course.
Alternatively, you may wish to seek an advanced level apprenticeship or full time employment in the engineering operations industry as a civil engineering technician, quality control engineer or process engineer.

College Maintenance Allowance (CMA): Anyone with a household income under £26,000 can receive up to £20 per week financial support to help pay for travel and meals and meet the costs of essential trips, books, stationery and equipment.
