Course overview
Master the craft of carpentry and joinery with our Level 2 Diploma program. Dive into advanced techniques for woodworking, joinery and construction. Gain hands-on experience in reading using power tools and executing complex projects. This comprehensive program equips you with the skills and precision required for a successful career in carpentry and joinery. Whether you aspire to work in residential construction, furniture making, or restoration, this diploma is your pathway to excellence in the field.
You will spend a large amount of your time developing your practical skills by completing a range of practical projects in our workshops. You will also have classroom based sessions and computer-based learning resources that you will use to develop your understanding of the tools, materials and technologies used in your trade. You will be expected to complete work outside your main classes.
As part of your study programme here at the College, you will complete a maths and/or English qualification alongside your chosen course if you have not already achieved a grade 4 or above.
The study programme will also incorporate a range of work related experience activities to ensure that you have the breadth of skills required to progress to further/higher education, employment or an apprenticeship.
You will also be well prepared to move into employment with construction companies including becoming an advanced apprentice. Here, you would work on site for four days per week but continue your learning at College one day a week.
This course is free for anyone aged 16 – 18. If you are outside this age group, please contact Charlotte Robertson on 01782 254141 or email charlotte.robertson@nscg.ac.uk.
