You need to be 16 years or older to join The Gordon Banks Sports Centre.

Yes, you will be issued your Gordon Banks Sports Centre membership card once you have completed your induction.

The standing order date is the 10th of every month, unfortunately this date cannot be changed. There is no joining fee but we will require a pro rata fee (the amount will depend on your time of joining) and one full month’s membership, this is due to the time it will take to set up the direct debit.

Yes of course, you can pay as you go or for 3 monthly, 6 monthly and annual memberships up front. Unfortunately you will not be able to pay monthly by cash.

If sadly you wish to cancel your membership, speak to one of the team on reception or alternatively phone 01782 254300.

If you prefer to pay for the year upfront we are able to take payment at the start of a new membership/renewal, so you don’t have to worry about monthly installments.

As we’re located within the Newcastle College site all students enrolled at the College are offered a discounted rate to use The Gordon Banks Sports Centre. If you are a student elsewhere and wish to use the gym our usual rates apply. Take a look at our prices page for more information.

Unfortunately these things sometimes happen, but rest assured if it does we will notify you by your specified contact method as well as our Facebook page to inform you and let you know when the next class will be running and of alternative classes you may be interested in that day.

Yes we have air-conditioned changing rooms (perfect after a good workout!) We also have plenty of lockers available for you to keep your items secure.

Yes. All new members are given a full induction on how to use our equipment, but if you’ve forgotten or just need a little reminder ask one of the team and they’ll be happy to help.

Unfortunately at present we do not offer those facilities, however we do offer a sports hall with four badminton courts, floodlit 3G football pitch, dance studio and conference facilities.

Yes. We have expert personal trainers on hand to help you reach your ultimate fitness goals. Take a look at our meet the team section to see which one of our team members is best suited to your needs.

The Gordon Banks Sports Centre is situated opposite Newcastle Fire station on knutton lane (please see map on the contact us section) our car park is accessible via the car park barrier, please use the intercom system to call the sports centre reception and staff will be happy to assist you.

The Sports Centre has access to the College’s Wi-Fi, just use your log-in credentials to access our free internet service.

Yes we sit down with all our new members to create a personal fitness plan. We will advise you on what you are eating and design you a suitable exercise programme to achieve your ultimate goal. In the first instance this is free and part of your gym induction.

All of our changing facilities come with showers and separate cubicles. All our changing rooms are also air-conditioned.

Yes we have dispensers located throughout the gym. We ask that when you use a piece of equipment you make sure it's clean for the next person.

Our heaviest free weights are 26 Kilos, however, our smith machine has plates which go up to 152.5 Kilos.

Yes. The Gordon Banks Sports Centre has security throughout the gym facilities and car parking. Staff are also on site during opening hours if you require any assistance.
