Rebecca, a Non-Executive Board Member at the Department for Education (DfE), visited the campus to gain first-hand insight into college life, meet students and staff and better understand the experiences of learners across a range of programmes.

During the visit, Rebecca met with members of the College’s Senior Management Team before taking a tour of the campus, exploring facilities and learning environments across a variety of subject areas.

A key part of the visit was a Q&A session with a group of students studying A Levels, T Levels and BTECs, alongside apprentices. The session provided an open forum for learners to share their experiences, discuss the challenges they face and offer their perspectives on further education.

During the session, Rebecca explored a range of topics with students, asking questions including high school experiences and career advice, why they chose to study at NSCG and their future career aspirations.

Students responded openly, sharing their experiences and highlighting both the opportunities available to them and the challenges they face within further education.

Craig Hodgson Principal & Chief Executive of NSCG, said: “We were delighted to host Rebecca for the day, to showcase the College, our facilities and provide the opportunity for insightful discussion with a broad cross section of learners from across NSCG.”

The visit formed part of a wider effort to engage directly with colleges and learners, ensuring that student voices help to inform future developments within the further education sector.
