NSCG Chair of Governors recognised with prestigious SFCA Governance Award

We are celebrating the outstanding achievement of Chair of Governors, Simon Leech, who has been named the winner of the Governance Award at this year’s Sixth Form Colleges Association Awards.

The award recognises Simon’s more than three decades of exceptional service, leadership and commitment to further education, highlighting the significant impact he has made through his strategic guidance and dedication to NSCG. 

Throughout his time as Chair of Governors, Simon has played a key role in shaping NSCG’s journey to becoming one of the UK’s leading college groups. His leadership has supported the organisation through a number of landmark achievements, including major structural changes, continued improvement in student outcomes, back-to-back ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted ratings and significant investment across the college’s campuses.

Simon’s passion for education and unwavering commitment to students, staff and the wider community has been central to his approach as Chair. He has consistently championed the importance of providing high-quality education and opportunities, ensuring NSCG continues to make a positive difference to the lives of learners across the region.

The award was announced at the SFCA Awards ceremony at Nottingham University earlier this week, where Simon was recognised among sector leaders from across the country for his outstanding contribution to governance.

NSCG Principal and Chief Executive, Craig Hodgson, said: “Simon’s contribution to NSCG over the past three decades has been truly exceptional. His leadership, insight and commitment have helped shape the college group we are today and his support for our students, staff and communities has been invaluable.

“We are incredibly proud to see Simon receive this well-deserved recognition. This award reflects not only his outstanding governance, but also the lasting legacy he leaves at NSCG.”
