NSCG hosts Highways Careers Day

On Friday 28th February, Newcastle and Stafford Colleges Group (NSCG) welcomed leading national companies to The Midlands Highways Industry Careers Day to showcase the exciting opportunities within the sector.

Hosted at the NSCG Newcastle College Performing Arts Centre, the event gave students valuable insights into the fast-growing highways industry, showcasing the diverse career opportunities available to them.

Featuring interactive displays and activities, students from local schools and current NSCG learners had the opportunity to get up close with large-scale plant machinery, including an Asphalt paver planer, gritter and state-of-the art emergency service vehicles.

Martyn Williams, Senior Schools Liaison Officer at NSCG, said: “It’s been fantastic to host the Highways Industry Careers Day for the second time. This event is a great way to get students thinking about their future and exploring career pathways they may not have considered before.

“Giving students the chance to connect with national employers and businesses face-to-face is so important, it allows them to ask questions and build a wider understanding of the world of work. A huge thank you to all the exhibitors who joined us today and helped make the event such a success.”
