NSCG Marks Five Years Since the Start of the Covid-19 Pandemic

On Friday 7th March, Newcastle and Stafford Colleges Group (NSCG), recently hosted a special event to reflect on the past five years since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, bringing together members of the police, NHS, and fire service, alongside current students and Simon Tagg, Leader of Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council.

The event provided an opportunity to commemorate the significant milestone, share experiences, and acknowledge the resilience shown by the local community.

NSCG Principal Craig Hodgson and council leader Simon Tagg welcomed guests by delivering poignant speeches, which were followed by a moving poem written by Early Years learner Esha Ali and a performance by Musical Theatre student, Millie Wilson. These contributions gave attendees the time to reflect on their own experiences and appreciate the dedication of those who played a vital role during the pandemic, from healthcare professionals and educators to emergency responders and other front line workers.

As part of the college’s wider activities for the Day of Reflection, students contributed to a Wall of Reflection, sharing their thoughts and memories from the pandemic. The wall served as a powerful reminder of the challenges faced, as well as the strength and perseverance of individuals across our community, with guests able to read the messages throughout the service.
