NSCG Stafford College Supports MP’s Jobs Fair

NSCG Stafford College recently welcomed over 250 local jobseekers and employers on campus for Leigh Ingham MP’s Summer Jobs Fair, co-hosted with Stafford JobCentre Plus. The event had more than 260 live vacancies available on the day, with one attendee even being offered a new job during the event.
Proving itself to be a one stop shop, exhibitors covered a wide range of different industries, from large firms like Amey, Bostik, and Converge Technology Solutions and Stafford College’s 2026 Employer of the Year GE Vernova, to vital local services including Katharine House Hospice, Staffordshire Police, and University Hospitals of North Midlands Trust. Employers ran interactive demonstrations and experiences to give job seekers a taste of the full time, part time and apprenticeship roles on offer from VR headsets to JCBs and gritting machines.
With the support of the government Youth Guarantee scheme, the event focused on getting young people into jobs to tackle the amount of people not in education, employment or training (NEETS), and companies offered a variety of roles to suit the needs of anyone who may be interested in joining their team.
Leigh Ingham MP for Stafford, Eccleshall, and the villages said, “I’m really passionate about bringing more jobs to the area and have been working closely with local employers and education providers to help make that happen.
“There's real opportunity here in Stafford right now: GE Vernova is creating 400 new skilled jobs, Stafford College has just been named one of only four Advanced Manufacturing Technical Excellence Colleges in the country, and the Government is investing heavily into programmes and courses to help get young people into work. And that’s just a few examples!
"One attendee was offered a job today by just chatting to one of the employers! It shows that an event like this can change someone’s life and I am so proud to be a part of that.”
