NSCG Students Lead the Conversation at Annual Conference

Students from across Newcastle and Stafford Colleges Group recently came together for their Annual Student Conferences, which are dedicated to giving students a platform to discuss the key topics that impact their college experience.

The sessions took place in Newcastle on Wednesday, February 5th, and in Stafford on Thursday, February 6th, beginning in the NSCG auditoriums with a keynote speech from former boxer turned motivational speaker, Kheron K Gilpin.

Students then had the opportunity to rotate between the 7 tables, where they were joined by key members of staff from various college departments to address themes including mental health and well-being, student finance and college costs, the students union, curriculum areas, progression opportunities and work placements.

In the afternoon, students took part in an interactive Q&A session with NSCG Principal, Craig Hodgson, who answered their questions and offered valuable insights into his role and upcoming initiatives for the wider college community.

Georgia Carnall, NSCG Student Engagement and Well-being, said: “We’re incredibly proud of the students who took part in the event. They were fully engaged throughout the day and provided fantastic feedback at each discussion table. It was a pleasure to see them use this opportunity to showcase their leadership skills.

“The responses gathered at the conference have been some of the most positive in the event’s history. We’re now collating all the feedback to help shape meaningful actions moving forward."
