Stafford College Celebrates Student Success with September 'Student of the Month' Awards

Each month Newcastle and Stafford Colleges Group hold a ‘Student of the Month’ awards presentation that highlights and recognises the individual effort, progress and dedication of students who go above and beyond throughout the year.

This month saw the first round of nominees of the academic year collect their awards. The presentations included a number of inspirational stories from staff about their nominees, including: overcoming personal challenges, going above and beyond on their chosen courses, exemplary attendance and hard work inside and outside of college.

Joseph Laidler - Professional Studies Award

Joseph has started his Level 3 Information Technology course with dedication, showing strong progress and a remarkable work ethic. His commitment goes beyond the classroom, as he balances his passion for cycling with his studies. 

In his spare time, Joseph has won several cycling awards, including 2nd place in the "Run and Ride Spring Classic" and 5th in the regional cyclo-cross championships. He’s also trained with Team GB coaches through the "Regional School of Racing" programme.

Recently, Joseph was accepted into the Diploma in Sporting Excellence (Cycling) at South Gloucestershire and Stroud College, while also participating in our TASS programme which helps athletes achieve in both their studies and sport. Congratulations, Joseph!

Chloe Tunnicliffe - Vocational Studies Award

Now in her second year, Chloe has consistently impressed staff, placement officers, and employers alike. She is known for her dedication, always submitting high-quality work early and showing strong leadership as her class representative. Chloe’s kindness, respect, and support for others have made her a favourite among classmates and colleagues.

Chloe excels in both her coursework and her special needs education placement, where staff have praised her impact, even introducing her to the CEO as "our brilliant student." Her commitment to supporting the children has left a lasting impression, and she plans to pursue a career in Special Educational Needs teaching. Chloe’s passion, hard work, and caring nature make her an inspiration to all. Congratulations, Chloe!

Elliott Braham - Apprentice of the Month

As an advanced Apprentice on the Machinist Standard at Moog in Wolverhampton since January 2021, Elliott has excelled both in the workplace and through his studies, having achieved 7 distinctions and 1 merit in his advanced Machining Knowledge, always completing tasks on time and often ahead of schedule.

Due to his exceptional performance, Elliott was promoted ahead of schedule to replace a retiring colleague, embracing new responsibilities with enthusiasm. Colleagues describe him as attentive, inquisitive, and a great team player, showcasing a deep understanding of machinery and processes. Congratulations, Elliott, your hard work and dedication truly deserve this recognition!
