This week, students from our Performing Arts, Music and Film classes were treated to an inspiring Zoom talk by Actor Bradley James.

BRADLEYJAMES Time 0 41 1728

Former Madeley High School Student, Bradley took the time out of his busy schedule to talk about his career so far and his advice for those seeking to forge a career in the acting world.

Best known for starring role as Prince Arthur in the BBC TV series Merlin. Other acting roles have included playing Damien in the Damien TV series, Varga in Underworld: Blood Wars, Giuliano de' Medici in Medici: The Magnificent, and most recently, Brigadier General Felix Sparks in The Liberator.

Students had the opportunity throughout the session to ask questions about the industry and Bradley's personal experiences of working in TV, Film and Theatre. Questions asked included:

How has the pandemic affected you as an actor?

What has been the most challenging aspect of your career and how did you overcome this?

Do you have any recommendations on choosing a Drama School?

On his career and advice for students, Bradley said, "Everyone in the industry is far too busy to care what you are doing yourself! You can only have control over certain things and it is important to realise that the fears of other people don’t matter. As you get older, you do begin to realise this."

He added: "The only thing in your control is the amount of effort you put into your education. Research all about the school or university of your choice and make sure it is the one for you. Be honest with yourself about what you want to get out of going to university, otherwise it can be a tough 3 years."
