Each month Newcastle and Stafford Colleges Group hold a ‘Student of the Month’ awards presentation that recognises the individual effort, progress and dedication of students who show outstanding commitment throughout the year.
Highlighting and recognising incredible students, the presentations included a number of inspirational stories from staff about their nominees who have gone above and beyond on their chosen course area.
We were pleased to welcome Jonathan Price, Staffordshire County Council Cabinet Member for Education and SEND, as our special guest for this month's awards.
Nominated for the Award for the Faculty of Academic and Creative Studies, Luke has shown outstanding commitment to art, with a deep interest in fine art and the limitations of potential materials through practical experimentation. During Luke’s first year, he developed an ambitious large scale figurative sculpture for his creative project. In November, Luke made an over life-sized textile sculpture to highlight waste and the effects on the environment which was exhibited at the Staffordshire County Council offices, as well as producing part of a set for the National War Museum in London. Now in the second year of his Level 3 programme, Luke continues to make huge progress and has secured a place at Staffordshire University to study Fine Art next year. Congratulations!
Nominated for the Award for the Faculty of Professional Studies, Olivia has shown amazing hard work and dedication to all aspects of her course. Despite working at D*D*D* level, Olivia is always striving to improve, with a career aspiration of a sports teacher. Always exceeding expectations, Olivia demonstrates a strong positive attitude towards every aspect of her learning. Outside of college Olivia is a committed member of Newport Cycling Club, along with being a British Cycling Coach, helping young children learn the skills necessary to ride a bike. Olivia has been offered a scholarship with British Cycling and is planning to complete her work experience with them! Congratulations!
Nominated for the Award for the Faculty of Academic and Creative Studies, Bethany consistently demonstrates such qualities which make her stand out as an excellent student. Bethany always strives to do her absolute best, being exceptionally helpful and supportive to others. With a very strong work ethic, Bethany is determined to progress onto a Science course at university. Showing her admirable dedication, Bethany organised her work experience placement at the Princess Royal Hospital in Telford before even starting her course! Bethany’s tutor describes her as a committed, determined and extremely hard working individual, and her classmates have commented that your niceness has helped them stay positive and motivated in both their studies and personal lives. Congratulations!
Congratulations to all other students with their outstanding achievements and admirable commitment to their studies.
