Course overview

This part-time course aimed at adult learners will provide you with a good introduction to joinery. You will develop the skills, knowledge and confidence to prepare you for employment as a skilled crafts person in the near future.

The first term will focus on learning how to create joinery work by hand. Course content will be delivered and assessed using verbal and visual feedback, creating pieces of work that adhere to current regulations and standards. The course will run over one night per week, giving students the ability to learn quickly through 1 to 1 teaching and group tasks.

Throughout your studies, our industry-trained tutors will teach you the basics relating to construction including working safely, handling & storing resources, your responsibilities at work, communication skills and your will develop your personal effectiveness skills to enable you to progress to further training or employment.

There are no official entry requirements for this course however, learners will need to be aged 19+ and reside in Staffordshire, with Staffordshire County Council as their local authority.

After successful completion of this 13 week course, you will be able to progress onto part 2 in the Spring term. 

This course is FREE to adult learners aged 19+ (learners must reside in Staffordshire, with Staffordshire County Council as their local authority). Please note that there is a £30 materials charge upon enrolment.
