Course overview

Explore the fundamentals of EV charging technology, including different charging standards, connector types and charging modes. Learn about electrical safety regulations, site assessment criteria, and installation requirements for EV charging stations. Gain hands-on experience in assembling, configuring, and testing charging units, as well as performing routine maintenance tasks to ensure optimal performance and safety.

This is a roll-on, roll-off qualification that is commenced at anytime during the year based on demand.

This two day day course students will gain an understanding understanding of the application of the IET Code of Practice for Electric Vehicle Charging Equipment Installation. It provides a facility for individuals working in the electrotechnical sector to develop their understanding of the installation of electric vehicle (EV) charging points.

This qualification is designed for electricians who want to develop their existing skills to include installation and maintenance of single electric vehicle charging units in domestic properties and small commercial premises.

With an increasing demand for new electric vehicle charging points, but too few installers to roll them out, skilled technicians are in serious demand. This is already a booming market which is due to get much bigger in the near future. By arming yourself with a new skill such as electric vehicle charging installation you will be getting in early on a sector which should prove to be very lucrative in coming years. Global and UK electric car sales are due to increase dramatically over the coming years.

Learners must be at least 18 years old and be a qualified electrician.

Learners must also be conversant with the relevant wiring regulations, and initial verification and commissioning. This can be demonstrated by the learner holding relevant qualifications in BS 7671, inspection and testing.

This course is assessed by an on-screen multiple-choice exam.
