Course overview

The Level 2 Adult Social Care Certificate is a UK qualification for people working in care roles such as care assistants or support workers. It provides the essential knowledge and practical skills needed to support adults safely and compassionately, covering areas like person-centred care, safeguarding, communication, health and safety, and equality. The course is usually completed in the workplace through assessments and observations, and it acts as a recognised starting point for a career in adult social care, with opportunities to progress to high qualifications.

The course is ideal for those with an interest in the Health & Social Care Sector and maybe considering a change in career, already working within the environment or new to care. Good level of maths and English required. Entry is by interview, where your individual needs and career prospects will be discussed. A paid or voluntary workplace must be in place to start this course. 

Assessment is through observation of performance in the workplace, knowledge and understanding you show through written/oral questioning and assignments and an e-portfolio of supporting evidence is also collated.

Level 3 Diploma in Adult Health and Social Care or progression on to an advanced apprenticeship within the sector. There are further NCFE Level 2 certificates that you may progress to, which include: mental health problems, dementia care, infection control, care planning, autism, learning disabilities, equality and diversity, nutrition.
