FIRST® LEGO® League
Every year we are proud to host the FIRST® LEGO® League Challenge Regional Finals.
Every year, FIRST® LEGO® League releases a new challenge based on a real-world theme, with this year’s teams tasked in exploring how to use technology and the arts to help engage others. The teams presented their research, designs and accompanying information to a judging panel on the day of the tournament. Teams were also required to build and programme a robot which took part in a range of timed missions with scores awarded for project innovation, robot design and core values.

FIRST® LEGO® League Challenge
Age: 9 to 16
FIRST® LEGO® League Challenge is a global STEM programme for teams of young people, to encourage an interest in real world themes and develop key skills that are crucial for their future careers.
Young people work together to explore a given topic and to design, build and program an autonomous LEGO® robot to solve a series of missions.
LEGO® Explore Challenge
Age: 6 to 9
LEGO® Explore Challenge is an exciting STEM programme for 6–9-year-olds which rapidly develops teamwork, design, programming, and communication skills.
It makes children feel proud of what they have achieved, encouraging them to continue engaging with STEM.
This year's challenge.
In February we hosted this year's FIRST® LEGO® League Challenge. During the UNEARTHED™ Season, FIRST® LEGO® League teams used creative thinking and LEGO® technology to dig deep into history as this year took them on an archaeological adventure.
They used LEGO® Education sets to build and program robots to carefully excavate artifacts hidden beneath layers of rock and soil, uncovering clues that reveal stories of past civilisations. Along with this, they designed and presented a project addressing a problem archaeologists face.
In July, we also hosted this years LEGO® Explore Challenge which followed the same season of UNEARTHED™ where the children used creative thinking and LEGO® building to create their very own archaeological dig site.
They use any LEGO® pieces they could find to build their model dig site along with presenting their design and team poster to a panel of reviewers.
